When was the last time Alabama won an Iron bowl?
That’s a really good question. A question any and all proud navy and burnt sienna bleeding fans should find themselves asking daily as they brush their teeth, peering into the mirror, getting ready to champion the day. This morning I had the following thought as I asked the above question: “Man, I think my teeth have gotten 3 shades whiter since the last time Alabama won an Iron Bowl”. It’s marvelous what winning can do for one’s “outlook on the world”. Then try winning many times and see how that puts a little punch in your step. Then try winning many times consecutively. I know Auburn fans who report the following after an Iron Bowl win: “The air feels cleaner, crisper, inviting”, “my boyfriend doesn’t seem like such a dullard”, “I don’t mind visiting my wife’s cousin in prison as much as I used to”, “even though it’s clearly raining, I don’t seem to get wet when I walk outside” and of course we’ve all said at one time or another “I just like to see a good Bama fan cry, makes me feel warm and safe. As if the country WILL elect the right man or woman for the Presidency and it might actually make “a capitol hill of beans” who gets elected. Maybe Terrorist WILL just get bored and start sipping Margaritas. I’m sure they’d all love the Margaritas with the high grade Tequila and somewhere in-between the extremes of bleaching away the residue of last week’s gunpowder stains and sifting their solemn fingers through the smooth, soothing stone beaches of “La Cote D”Azur” toss caution to the wind and give peace a chance.” Till then, might I suggest that Tiger fans world wide take a moment out of the worry and toil that may crop up from day to day and ask themselves: When was the last time Alabama won an Iron Bowl?
Here’s a hint: The average tank of gas in the US was under $2.00, “A Beautiful Mind” won best picture and “Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal” hit the bookshelves all over America.
My how time flies when all you do is win.

Yeah, it’s good to win. I think we’ll have one more year where we’ll have them out gunned. And then next year we play them in Tuscalossa and as I’m sure you all know, we have yet to lose a game there so maybe we’ll be able to add 2 more wins…ere… should i say fingers to out Iron Bowl win streack.
Anybody know wha the longes win streak in the series is?

Alabama holds the longest Iron bowl win streak at 9 games. We’re getting close.

I just love talking football with the Bama fans! No matter what we’re talking about the streak always comes up. You’re right Perry, it does give me a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Hopefully you’re right. It should take a few years before that last recruiting class has enough depth behind it to really start making a run at the SEC title.

I hope it takes them awhile. Maybe all the underhanded dealing and paying off coaches and players will catch up with them again and they lose some more schollys.

there’s always something going on, I heard that Julio Jones (bama’s new star WR) had A LOT of help to qualify this year. And by help I mean extra work with teachers and tutors. Some who live around his home town are thinking it will be a real struggle for him to focus on grades AND save the Tide’s Football program. Personally I hope he graduates with all A’s and solves world hunger, HOWEVER, I also hope he drops every stinking pass that comes his way.
