Six future Auburn Tigers were named to 2009 Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State Teams, as either first team all-state selections or honorable mention. Two players, Kenneth Carter and Craig Sanders, were selected as Lineman of the Year in their respective classes. Here are the selections, as listed by the Montgomery Advertiser:

CLASS 6A

LB: Jake Holland, Pelham High School

DL: LaDarius Owens, Jess Lanier High School (Honorable Mention)

CLASS 5A

DL: Kenneth Carter, Greenville High School (Lineman of the Year)

ATH: Chris Davis, Woodlawn High School

WR: Jeremy Richardson, Springville High School (Honorable Mention)

CLASS 1A

LB: Craig Sanders, Ariton High School (Lineman of the Year)

Congratulations, guys! What an excellent way to top off what were clearly stellar high school careers. … Now, let’s get on down to the Plains and keep that momentum going!
